Not too posh to punch you in the nose

Yet another story (Yahoo being the offender this time) saying women who have caesarean births are “too posh to push“. It’s lazy, cliched, offensive and wrong. There are many reasons why a c-section is needed or wanted. Several of my friends had emergency c-sections after long labours, and if anyone said they were too posh to push I’d punch them in the nose.

There are more important stats in this article than the numbers of women choosing c-sections in private hospitals, such as indigenous people having to wait longer for elective surgery, and one in three people who turn up at emergency departments not being seen within the recommended time. But no, let’s go with the headline that sneers at women.
