Highway fucking robbery

I just bought two tickets to see Ben Kweller in October. Over the internet. I didn’t speak to or use the services of a human at any stage in the transaction.

Cost of tickets: $44 each
Booking fee: $3 per ticket
GST: $8.55

If I wanted them delivered, it was another $3 per ticket.

How on earth does an internet transaction taking all of three seconds warrant a $3 booking fee? If I book tickets for something at the Sydney Opera House, the online charge is $7.50! Forget high speed rail and broadband – outrageous booking fees should be the focus of the federal election campaign. Where’s Graeme Samuel when you need him?

  1. Consider it mea culpa for liking ben kweller 🙂

  2. What are they, a bank?

  3. what about the hours of coding and development of the site to make it as easy as jumping online to make the transaction? better than queuing old skool style at ticketek!

  4. Over here it’s $8 for the privilege of printing out your own ticket off your own printer. I miss ticket stubs but I can’t afford the extra they tack on that.

  5. Mr Samuel is too busy this week worrying about losing his $50 million personal fortune he has tied up with the ailing DFO shopping centre chain. DFO set to be wound up as early as today.
