Autism: new findings on neurodiverse sexuality to improve healthcare


In the study – published in the journal Autism Research – the results contradict the stereotype that people with autism are not interested in sex or dating.

Being the largest study to date, the Autism Research Center team used anonymous, self-reported surveys to study the sexual activity, orientation, and sexual health of adults with autism.

A total of 1,183 adolescents and adults with autism and 1,203 non-autistic (aged 16 to 90) provided information about themselves.

The results showed that 70 percent of men with autism and 76 percent of women with autism engaged in sexual activity.
