Brady Quinn challenges Warren Moon’s racism claims over Kyler Murray clause

Warren Moon on by Kyler Murray ‘duties’ clause: “It’s just an unfortunate situation. It’s an embarrassing situation not only for the player, Kyler Murray, but it’s embarrassing for the organization to have to deal with this. It shows a lack of trust in the player that you even have to put something in a contract like this. It’s also a slap in the face for all African American quarterbacks because it’s something we’ve always been accused of back when they wouldn’t let us play. That we were lazy, that we didn’t study, that we couldn’t be leaders, that we weren’t smart. So all of these different things kind of came to the surface after we put all of this to bed over the years and just because of this deal between Arizona and Kyler.

Brady Quinn: “The first thing I would say in rebuttal to Warren Moon is if you’re going to take a contract and apply it to everyone, then why not take Deshaun Watson’s contract? What is the highest paid and most important contract in NFL history for an African American quarterback who did not play a year ago and is about to be suspended… How would you see you that? This is my only rebuttal and question for him. Let’s not sit here and take each individual contract and apply it to everyone because it’s completely unfair to everyone involved. There was a concern about Kyler Murray and whether he was the first and the last guy to come out…Based on the clause, it wasn’t that he would stay at the facility any longer, he was actually trying to get him to do more work when he’s away from the establishment, that they can track all this stuff now… My inclination was more like ‘hey Kyler, when you get out of here, that’s not not like you stop being the quarterback for the arizona cardinals, we need you to keep preparing even if you’re not here. I don’t know if it was racially motivated in any way. It’s hard to have these conversations because you have people taking that circumstance and applying it to EVERYONE. Alright, so take Deshaun Watson’s contract – how would you describe that, Warren? (Full audio above)

To listen Brady Quinn from the Fox Sports Radio question Warren Moon’s recent comments regarding the controversial “duties clause” in by Kyler Murray contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals, as Moon called it “a slap in the face to all African-American quarterbacks.”

Check out the audio above as Quinn asks why Moon specifically takes Murray’s contract details and applies it to ALL African American quarterbacks while ignoring the fact Deshaun Watsonan African-American quarterback, was awarded a guaranteed $230 million contract by the Cleveland Browns in the face of 24 sexual assault lawsuits against him.
