She plays divergent roles in her life: she rules the household, shapes morals, and balances society. Yet she is continually oppressed, neglected, molested and deprived of educational opportunities.
She called on society as a whole to commit to safeguarding the rights of the girl child to aspire and achieve her aspirations as the world marks the 10th International Day of the Girl Child.
“As we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl Child, we call on society to renew its commitment to giving girls a sense of belonging, listening to their voices, preparing them for a better future and shaping them. for an investment in realizing their mental, physical and willpower. The time has come! We will no longer sit and watch the promises of the little girl buried in the quicksand of anonymity. We will no longer smile at prejudice educational.
She continued, “We will no longer turn our faces away when our daughters are stripped of their dignity and pride. The whirlwind of our patriotic cries will continue to rage against the discriminatory walls of the little girl until the little girl is freed from the discriminatory shackles of female circumcision, rape, sexual exploitation, child labor, from child marriage, domestic servitude, enforced criminality and educational bias. .”
According to the lawyer, it is time to crush the stereotypes that conceive of the girl as mere pleasure, and underlined that society will experience an improvement in the quality of life and standard of living if the future of the girl is assured. .
“Yes! we need to break the stereotype that the little girl is just a fun toy.
When we secure the future of the girl child, economic growth increases, wages and jobs increase, the lives of children and their mothers are more secure, families are supported and health is preserved. »
