The NBA may be preparing for another Donald Sterling situation.
Jordan Schultz of Boardroom reported on Friday that the league was bracing for a massive story accusing Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver of racism, sexism and sexual harassment.
Schultz added personal speculation that, with enough evidence to back up such claims, there might be a real chance the NBA will forcibly remove Sarver.
Chris Mannix of Yahoo! Sports added that the story is a pending play from ESPN.
Sarver bought out the Suns in 2004 for a record $ 401 million. It’s the same owner who recently declined to give starting center Deandre Ayton maximum extension after Phoenix placed in the NBA Finals last season.
Phoenix Suns and Mikal Bridges agree to a four-year, $ 90 million contract extension for rookies.
The Suns issued a statement in response to the expected report. They called the claims “completely unfounded” and said documentary evidence and eyewitness testimony would directly contradict the charges.
If all of this is true, the NBA would like to address this story while the season is now underway.
